The Recovery Bus Team, post-filming. What a good-looking bunch!

So much hope, by Dawn

It’s a Wrap!
Four days of in-home filming finished at Joe and Dodee’s.  I would never want to minimize the work that was done there with the mere word “amazing”, however, when God is in the healing, miracles abound.
We started with our usual porch chat this morning with the therapists evaluating how far the family has come and reviewing what the last day’s goals should be.  Our superhero trio jumped in today full force to be sure the family was left with healing, hope and life application tools.
I was literally choked up to the point of sobbing as we shot the final scene.  Dad Joe spoke for the first time since I’ve met him from a new place, his heart.  He was no longer a purely “cerebral functioner.”   (Please note I make up my own observation words that are not clinical in nature.)  Mom Dodee, looked ten years lighter and younger (although she always looked fantastic) as it was apparent that she released years of buried pain during her “intensive” emotional mat therapy.
Jacob, their oldest son had a smile that was genuine, unlike the one he “wore” when I first met him.  Sweet Caleb continued to radiate joy and I do believe would love to follow Colin our director into a place of film production.  He had complet camera fascination.
The therapists seemed very content with how far this family had come during the four packed days of therapy.  All of them concurring that healing was in process and that our first family on the Recovery Bus has moved into a place of hope from frustration.
I am grateful and awe struck at what was accomplished.  It was much more than we ever anticipated going in to this project.  Please keep us in prayer as we go into post-production.  Can’t wait to see where the bus goes next!
Seeing the miracle,
Dawn

A porch session on the last day of filming

A rousing cheer, by Dr Kendra

Wow!  What a day!  We finally got to see the heart of dad, beautifully vulnerable and open and willing to speak about his pain.  Praise God! Out of this the family began to come together.

We witnessed some great sharing and intimacy between him and mom, and some neat moments with the boys.  Hurray!  Better than we could have dreamed.  God promised us victory and as always, He came through.

The challenge for tomorrow will be to find a way to make this stick.  With dad’s history of dropping things after 6 weeks, we really want to cement the change that’s happened and help the family carry it forward.

Good stuff, by Terry

Had some really good things happen during the Recovery Bus filming.

Dad Joe was able to connect more with his feelings as he was able to understand that who he is is not dependent on his behavior.

Isn’t it a great truth? God cares for me inspite of how I act. This is life-changing – very good stuff.
