So much hope, by Dawn
A rousing cheer, by Dr Kendra
Wow! What a day! We finally got to see the heart of dad, beautifully vulnerable and open and willing to speak about his pain. Praise God! Out of this the family began to come together.
We witnessed some great sharing and intimacy between him and mom, and some neat moments with the boys. Hurray! Better than we could have dreamed. God promised us victory and as always, He came through.
The challenge for tomorrow will be to find a way to make this stick. With dad’s history of dropping things after 6 weeks, we really want to cement the change that’s happened and help the family carry it forward.

Good stuff, by Terry
Had some really good things happen during the Recovery Bus filming.
Dad Joe was able to connect more with his feelings as he was able to understand that who he is is not dependent on his behavior.
Isn’t it a great truth? God cares for me inspite of how I act. This is life-changing – very good stuff.
Feeling real hope, by Colin Tanji
From Colin Tanji, Producer/Director, Recovery Bus:
I have been in film & video production for 26 years and I have never come home from a shoot as emotionally exhausted as I have on these last couple of days of filming the Recovery Bus pilot. This family is doing, saying & feeling things that they never have before.
At the furthest depths of my imagination I can’t dream of what they must be going through with this process.
But, my job is to observe and keep the cameras rolling. I can’t tell you what they are feeling… but, I can tell you what I’m feeling… I am feeling real hope.
And I believe this family, which was already a loving family before we even walked in, has grown even more and has so much to look forward too!
On reconciling the adult and child self, by Dr Kendra
We had a good day with mom and some prep work with the couple.
I helped mom reconcile her adult and child self. I want her to have this experience so that she can own her feelings and have a taste of the possibilities without Joe.
While we absolutely need each other and God provides relationships for healing. At the same time, we are responsible for ourselves and no one can ever make up for what we missed in early childhood. On some level, we have to take this to the Lord and heal ourselves.
A lot will hinge on what takes place tomorrow, when dad really gets in the game.
In many ways, whatever is going to happen in this process and this family comes down to tomorrow morning…whether or not we can have a breakthrough with dad. We all pray to that end.
On Love and Respect, by Terry
During the filming of the Recovery Bus, I had a good session with Joe and Dodee.
Talked about the concept of love and respect. Ephesians 5:33 says: “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”
Dodee needs to feel loved by Joe but she needs to help him understand what that looks like. However, from a man’s perspective, respect is more important. After they discussed this, they were able to listen and connect in a deeper manner.
Both of them made a commitment to continue to learn to care about each other, and we are so hopeful for their continued success.
